Torii

Limited edition of 100 linocut prints. Lasts decades when framed.

We visited Japan towards the end of fall and still saw autumn landscapes in almost every city and small town we went to.

This Torii is at Meiji Jingu in Tokyo, a shrine that’s massive and beautiful. I made a quick sketch of this gate while I was there. I didn’t like the sketch at the time, but it worked well as a linocut subject.

I mixed some colours to get this shade of maroon to reflect the season of fall.
